I know my original plan was for a Star Wars themed box during May, but I couldn’t find Star Wars stuff that wasn’t total crap. Stuff in the dollar bins can be great for Easter baskets, but it doesn’t do much in Afghanistan. Instead, I decided to send Mac a taco care package in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
You’ve probably seen macaroni and cheese cups in other boxes. Mac loves these, and they’re good to fill extra space in the box. The Tortilla Stuffers were a solid find. They’re shelf stable and are packaged in a sauce / marinade. Yes, I bought him food that was on clearance at Target. His making more money during deployment doesn’t mean we’re Bill and Melinda Gates. They also looked like products he would actually eat.
What’s inside:
Queso fiesta Goldfish
Three cheese Tostitos (Mac’s fave)
Salsa con queso
Nacho cheese Easy Mac
Hard shell taco bowls
Soft shell taco bowls
Microwaveable taco filling (carne asada steak, garlic chili chicken, and mesquite chicken)
Hot sauce
What would you add to a taco care package?
Check out my other care packages from Mac’s last deployment: Valentine’s Day – February | Pizza – March | Birthday – March | Easter – April | Tacos – May | Summer – June | Football – August | 100 day countdown – September | Our next duty station – October
