Happy March, friends! I love March because it’s the official start of spring (whether or not the weather cooperates). Thankfully, we were spared the full impact of the storms that swept across Alabama and Georgia last night.
- Mac and I spent President’s Day Weekend in Charleston and visited the last three National Park Service properties in South Carolina. I’m happy that we were able to cross all of those off before we moved. I really didn’t recap our trip to Charleston, but it was a nice weekend away. We enjoyed a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner at the Kickin’ Chicken, one of our favorite restaurants when we lived in Fayetteville (that location closed). I also had a biscuit so delicious that it changed my life at Callie’s Little Hot Biscuit.
- We’re still waiting on Mac’s orders. Fingers crossed that these come through soon, so we can start coordinating our move. The pre-move purge is finally underway. I’ve managed to sell three Crock Pots and a Belgian waffle maker. I’m also debating if I should list any of the clothes I’m getting rid of on Poshmark or if I should just donate them. Any of y’all had success on Poshmark?
- I’ve also officially launched the Pimento Cheese Farewell Tour. A bunch of restaurants in Augusta (and this part of the South) offer pimento cheese on their menus, and I’ve decided to try as many of them as I can before we move. I honestly love pimento cheese, and I’m kind of sad that we won’t be able to find it as easily once we move. Same goes for Southern fried chicken.
- Have any of y’all been following the story about the abysmal state of military housing? We discovered that one of the windows in our bedroom is leaking. There is clearly damage on the roof and drywall. The housing office’s response? Caulk over it. The Army has been pretty receptive to listening to residents since that Congressional hearing. Mac’s battalion commander is stopping by on Wednesday for a walk-through of our house (and the other houses in our neighborhood).
What are y’all up to lately?

Thanks! I normally don’t take photos of food, but I’ve been snapping pictures of everything pimento cheese haha.

I really hope you are able to get that housing situation handled! So annoying!

Yeah, fingers crossed we can get it resolved.
