Mac and I made our way back to the Orangery to find a crazy dance party already in process. Our friends were making good use of the open bar and the dance floor. All photos courtesy of Carolina MediaStar. Our wedding weekend:Friday, we rehearsed, relaxed over dinner, and hosted an open house. Wedding morning dawned bright and early, we got prettified, then had our first look. We waited for some… View Post »
Photo shoot, round 2
Dusk arrived as our friends headed back inside. We asked for a shot of us in front of the Orangery. Sarah and Terry then suggested we walk around for some more photos in the darker lighting. The lights in the Arbor were now on, so we wandered around. The ever-popular “don’t drop me” pose. Fun fact: our photographer did the engagement photosof Mac’s former battery commander and his wife. All photos… View Post »
Group photos
The dance floor was warming up, so I decided to grab our college friends and our photographers before things got too out of hand. Our DJ really struggled with asking all Alpha Gams AND Virginia Tech Hokies to head over to the terrace. He kept saying “Virginia Tech Alpha Gams.” Umm, only Tech Alpha Gams were at the wedding. Whatevs. The sorority squat. Throw what you know. And the ever-classic… View Post »
Happy Birthday to Me (and the Air Force)!
On this day back in 1988, I was born in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Minot, North Dakota. I might be having a slight crisis about turning 24: it’s officially the “mid-twenties.” I’m also very grateful and blessed to have enjoyed 23 amazing years of life. So far, I’ve managed to pull in Titanic 3D on Blu-Ray, two books about the Tudors, a book about Titanic, and a gift card. Whoot. Here’s hoping… View Post »
Calling out our single friends
In tried and true wedding tradition, we subjected our still-single friends and family to the bouquet toss and garter throw. I had decided that I wanted to save my actual bouquet and garter (see craft here), so I whipped together a small bundle of leftover roses and bought a cheap, plain garter during my wedding morning Michael’s run. I hadn’t fully decided on doing these when I filled out and… View Post »
The anniversary dance
Our DJ called us back to the floor and invited all the other married couples out with us. Each couple sat down when he announced the time married. We didn’t want to throw everybody off, so we sat down when he said “if you’ve been married less than a day.” My little, Jeymie (who has an adorable blog), and her hubby, Mike, were next at less than a month. He’s… View Post »
Cake cuttage
After our first dance, we made our way over to the cake table to cut our cake. I’ve mentioned before that we opted for a small cutting cake (lemon flavored) and three different cupcake flavors (lemon, vanilla, and chocolate-covered strawberry). Mac and I agreed to not smash cake: neither of us was too keen on having to clean cake off of our respective clothing. The cake didn’t wholly agree with… View Post »
The last and first dances
After everybody was fed, seconds served, and toasts completed, it was time for the first dances. We again went against tradition with our dance order. My sorority sister, Crystal, married three years ago, and I totally stole this idea from her (because it makes really good sense). The bride and groom dance for a final time with their respective parents before their first dance as a couple. First up, my… View Post »
Making the rounds
While our guests enjoyed dinner, we made our rounds and greeted each guest. We didn’t make it to every guest at their tables, but we did talk to everyone at some time during the evening. Mac’s college friends. My college friends Mac’s cousin, his wife, and their adorable baby girl My parents chatting with my dad’s oldest brother and family. Some Army friends who moved to Augusta. Mac’s grandfather chatting… View Post »
