My birthday is on the 18th, so I’ve decided to update my 25for25 progress on the 18th of each month. Lucky you. 1. Be a better Christian: attend church regularly, finish The Purpose Driven Life, read the Bible.I’m 0 for 2 on church. Apparently, my Sunday morning alarm was turned off. I did buy a study Bible to read in 365 days. 2. Lose 25 pounds and keep it off. I’m… View Post »
Looking forward, standing still
I’ve had moving on the brain a lot lately. It all started about several months ago when Mac and I almost (and should have) moved out of his brother’s house. Growing up as an Air Force brat, I’m used to moving and almost welcome it. We’re coming to the end of our time here in Fayetteville but just aren’t quite there yet. Mac should be getting orders this month for… View Post »
Sheldon Cooper was wrong
We have a certain appreciation for The Big Bang Theory in our house. It’s reasonably intelligent humor that mixes in dry humor and nerd culture. I love the chemistry jokes, even if I don’t love chemistry. Side bar: I took seven semesters of various chemistry classes in college (including the fact that I had to retake the first part of organic chemistry that I failed). I chose not to complete the… View Post »
High Five for Friday!
Found a new link-up called High Five for Friday. Lauren, the hostess, is the younger sister of stylist extraordinaire Kate. 1. I taught a nice full class yesterday! Made almost as much in one day as I made in a whole week at my old job. 2. My husband might be switching jobs to something more in line with his long-term Army career track (he’s currently an Artillery officer but… View Post »

Another Wednesday weigh-in. I was back on the full Ideal Protein protocol for the first week since we came home. And good news. True story: I lost 15 inches between last week and today. Bye bye, Christmas bloat. Since I regained what I had lost, I’m restarting my weekly losses.
Sloppy Joe tater tot casserole
Another day, another casserole. Mac and I were perusing Pinterest the other day (he likes the Food & Drink board), and he pointed out a photo of a Cowboy Casserole. The recipe intrigued me because the description read: “looks like dog food, tastes delicious.” We then talked about trying it with sloppy joes instead of the cream of mushroom sauce. Sorry to all of you Midwestern hot dish purists out… View Post »
Oh Captain, my Captain
I do love a cheesy post title. Today Monday last month, my beloved was finally (I do mean finally) promoted to Captain! The Army has decided to extend times between promotions because they’re slowly reducing the number of active duty officers and soldiers. My camera had the nerve to die after this picture, so the second came from Mac’s commander’s phone. Whomp whomp. The battalion commander talking about Mac. Changing… View Post »
Mulligan
mul·li·gan /ˈmʌl ɪ gən/ Show Spelled [muhl-i-guh n] noun 1. Also called mulligan stew. a stew containing meat, vegetables, etc., especially one made of any available ingredients. [Totally irrelevant but interesting enough to leave] 2. Golf. a shot not counted against the score, permitted in unofficial play to a player whose previous shot was poor. Another Wednesday, another Ideal Protein weigh in. We’ll chalk up the return of all the pounds I’ve… View Post »
The clean slate
[Please pretend I posted this on time. Nothing quite like starting off a new year by procrastinating.] Today is the day of new beginnings. The first day of every January brings a hope of a fresh start and goals for the new year. Some of us will swear never to drink again, some will vow to hit the gym. Some lucky folks, like my Uncle Page and sister Manisha, celebrate the new… View Post »
