I started Pure Barre back in 2014. Since then, I’ve taken hundreds of classes at four studios in three states. I first joined Pure Barre Fairfax (VA) then moved to the McLean studio because it was closer to my in-laws’ house. After we moved to Colorado, I bought a membership at the studio in Colorado Springs because I, for the first time in my life, found myself missing a workout. As soon as we found out we were coming back to Georgia, I checked for a studio here in Augusta. I started classes while we were living in a hotel before our house was ready.
I really never expected that I would ever find a workout that I enjoyed enough to keep at it for several years and in different locations. But I find myself missing the challenge of the workouts when I don’t go. Each class is just a little bit different. While they have the same set-up, the instructors pick their own choreography to mix things up. I see noticeable results when I go to class regularly. Right now, I’m starting to see shoulder and inner arm definition. My thighs are slightly less jiggly.
The community at each Pure Barre also keeps me going. The teachers really do learn your name. Everyone is genuinely nice and supportive. While I’m not the most talkative person in that I don’t start a lot of conversations, I’ve always felt welcome at every studio from my first day. I’ve also met women that are also members of Junior League, so we see each other outside of class.
Pure Barre has gone through some changes in the time I’ve taken class. They’ve launched a few new class formats beyond the classic class. A new class called Reform rolls out soon, and I’m excited to try it.
Have you tried Pure Barre? Do you like it?
