Y’all, it might’ve taken me three seasons to start watching “Downton Abbey,” but I’m suddenly hooked. And what’s a gal to do when Netflix only has Season 1 on Instant? I guess my answer is to order the next seasons from Amazon. Yeah, I did that. I also ordered the UK versions, and my beloved thinks they might not work on our American Blu-Ray player. Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess is sublime, and she has some real zingers. The cast are great, and the writing is quite entertaining. I now see why people have been addicted to it for years. But, thanks to nosy Nellies on Pinterest, I already know some spoilers for later seasons.

I watched six of the first seven episodes yesterday while writing a paper. Needless to say, I’m still working on the paper. But I will finish it and the my other term paper before they arrive. If only so I can watch every episode without the pesky interruption of working on an advanced degree looming.
But if you like the sumptuous, well-costumed, historical dramas, check out these movies.
The Young Victoria chronicles Queen Victoria’s ascent to the throne and romance with her beloved Prince Albert.

I joined the Downton party late too…but seriously marathoned the first two seasons (first on Netflix, second on Amazon Prime instant watch), and was able to catch the third on pbs.org, but I don’t know if they are still up on there!

Downton is my absolute favorite show… EVER. I’m so obsessed I got the e-book American Heiress for my iPad, it’s all about Cora and lets just say no one has heard or seen me since I got it.. I will have to check out these movies also 🙂

I don’t watch Downton Abbey, but only because I don’t need another obsession. I know I’d love it if I started watching it, so I just don’t let myself. I haven’t seen The Duchess, but definitely wanted to. And I loved The Young Victoria. In general though, I tend to love all movies (and books!) set in this time period.
