Happy July, friends! Anyone else wondering how we’re already halfway through 2019? I hope everyone is enjoying their summer (and summer break if you have it). Here’s what we’ve been up to.
- I wound up getting Friday off, so Mac and I drove down to Branson to see my family. They rented a condo for a week. It was nice to see them and get to hang out with everyone. We explored a battlefield and ate at Lambert’s Cafe (we used to go to the Alabama location when we lived there). The food was amazing, and the rolls were little pillows from heaven.
- Work is cruising right along. It’s funny how many people ask me if I get summers off since I work at a university. And they’re surprised when I tell them that admissions really doesn’t have down time. Summers are full of campus visits and the occasional college fair. I’m starting to work on my fall travel plans, but I’m going to enjoy the next two or so months without any big trips.
- And speaking of big trips, I’m planning out our next weekend adventure to St. Louis. I visited back in high school (my sister toured the college our grandfather attended), and I’m excited to go back. The Gateway Arch is now a National Park, and we’re also looking at a weekend where the Cardinals are in town. Any recommendations for food or where to stay?
- I finally ordered our moving announcements. The past few moves, I picked out an announcement that was state-themed. After debating between sunflowers and buffalo, I ordered a announcement with a slight Wizard of Oz vibe. They should arrive this week! I also ordered a Kansas address stamp, and I am in love with it.
- One of my favorite things about summer is the arrival of seasonal Oreos. I grabbed a package of the Apollo moon landing anniversary Oreos yesterday and then forgot to check if the package does glow in the dark. I’m also keeping my eyes peeled for the Baskin Robbins mint chocolate chip flavor that’s coming out later this summer. What’s your favorite Oreo?
What’s new with y’all?

When I was a little kid, I was terrified of the Wizard of Oz, because my cousins always told me the flying monkeys would get me. LOL! Makes me laugh now, but I bet those announcements are so cute!

The Wizard of Oz is my mom’s favorite movie, so we watched it a lot when I was a kid. The flying monkeys terrified me for years.

Cute moving announcements and a fun address stamp were always moving treats for me! It’s so much work to move and reestablish yourself – I always felt like I needed a moving perk or two. Glad you’re settling into your new routine and looking forward to Fall travel. Have fun in St Louis! I didn’t realize the arch was a National Park now. We’ve never taken the kids so I need to make sure we do that.

Thanks! I think it became a National Park a year or two ago. It was right before Indiana Dunes became a National Park, too!
