Tomorrow is Mac’s 30th birthday. It’s crazy that he’s going to be 30 because our first date was his 23rd birthday, and that doesn’t feel like seven years ago. Anyhoo, Mac is not the birthday enthusiast that I am and really doesn’t care how we celebrate (which is beyond baffling to me, the person who firmly believes my birthday should be a national holiday). And it’s his golden birthday, to boot.
Since Mac still has to work, we’re going to do a smaller celebration. Mac’s brother and fiancee are coming to visit this weekend, and we’re going to the Capitals / Avalanche game in Denver. I’m planning to take cupcakes over to his office around lunch. I’m going to get 30 gold balloons and two 3-0 balloons to decorate our house. We also recreate our first date each year we’re together, so we’re getting our standard pepperoni pizza from Old Chicago. Mac requested an alternate Alex Ovechkin jersey for his birthday, and every store was, of course, sold out of a size large (and I even called the Verizon Center). I ordered a Nick Backstrom in size large, and YESTERDAY I get an email that the order was cancelled as that size was out of stock. After a panic at work, I wound up ordering the Ovi jersey in an XL and paid to send it overnight (the things we do for love).
Any other ideas to celebrate Mac’s golden dirty 30?

Happy early Birthday to Mac! Both of our 30th birthdays last year were pretty uneventful. We aren’t party people either.
