I know I’m not alone here in immediately preparing for homecomings as soon as Mac has left. Even if R&R is months away, counting down to something just makes each day a little bit more bearable. During Mac’s first deployment, I really didn’t put any thought into what I was wearing when he came home. For his R&R, his brother picked him up because I was finishing an audit at work. I threw on some jeans before they got back. For his actual homecoming, I grabbed a cute knit dress at Target a few weeks before he came home.
This time around, I’ve just shopped my closet. I picked out a dress for R&R back in January as a visual reminder of why I wanted to lose weight. I hung that dress on the back of my door to look at every single day as I headed out for a run or to Pure Barre. At the beginning of the year, I couldn’t really get the dress over my hips and I generally looked like an overstuffed sausage. But by July, it fit. All that work, and we didn’t take any pictures when he came home. For Mac’s official homecoming, I’m still looking at dresses I already own. I suppose I should pick one out before the movers pack up everything.
How early did you pick out your homecoming outfit?

For Kyle’s first homecoming I didn’t plan anything because I went straight from work. The second I had some of it planned but it was mainly figured out the morning of his homecoming. 🙂

I pretty much spent the entire deployment looking for the perfect outfit, then I bought one about midway through and by the time it was time for him to come home it was too big. (I had just had Emma a month before he left).. so I had to shop my closet!

He came home in the middle of winter and over night so I went with warmth since I knew we would be standing outside to greet them. I just choose a nice top I already owned. I figured he would think anything was nice after not seeing me outside of pictures for months.
