Since Veterans’ Day was a Wednesday, Mac has a four-day weekend last week. The weather was really nice (and yet it snowed yesterday morning), so we headed over to Seven Falls. Seven Falls is a natural waterfall in a box canyon on the western edge of town. It was privately owned for decades until a devastating flood destroyed most of the park in 2013. The Broadmoor bought the property and renovated it. You pay admission and can pay to ride a tram to the base of the falls. I would recommend that you put Seven Falls on your must-see list for a visit to Colorado Springs. It’s also pretty close to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo if you’re looking for other things to do in that part of town.
Address and Location
You’ll find Seven Falls at South Cheyenne Canyon Park. These days, you park at 1045 Lower Gold Camp Road near The Broadmoor and take a shuttle up to the canyon.
Cost
Admission costs $12 for adults and $7 for children 2 – 12 years old. Children under 2 are free. Tram rides cost $2 per person.
What to do
Take in the views on the path up to the falls. You can ride the tram or hike. You’ll enjoy beautiful views around the canyon. Once you’re at the falls, you can climb up to the top or to an observation point called the Eagle’s Nest that looks over the canyon. The lookout points offer spectacular views.
The Broadmoor also opened Restaurant 1858, a unique Colorado territory dining experience at the base of the falls. As it’s a Broadmoor venue, the food was amazing. Mac had a buffalo burger, I had a pimento cheeseburger (where the pimento cheese was made with only cream cheese, strange), and we split wild boar green chili nachos. You can make a reservation or put your name on the list when you get to the restaurant. If you have the time (and especially if you don’t have the chance to try another Broadmoor restaurant), you should check it out.
Have you ever visited Seven Falls?

What a gorgeous place! I miss living in the mountains. Can’t believe you’ve already gotten snow. I’ve purchased Olive’s snow gear for the season so we are ready for the snow whenever it comes to the Midwest 🙂

I love Seven Falls. I haven’t been since the big flood, but it was one of our favorite places to go before that (and obviously before we moved away).
