I suppose I should post my goals and resolutions for 2015 a week late. Here’s an update for my 30 by 30 project. I managed to cross off three for good. 1. Read the Bible completely. Every single verse, every single book. 2. Save $5,000 a year each year. 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 3. Complete my Masters degree. 4. Pay off at least 50% of my undergrad student loans…. View Post »
Adjusting after redployment
Redeployment, the official term for soldiers returning home, is a time of crazy emotions. On the one hand, you’re incredibly relieved and happy your soldier is home. On the other hand, you’ve spent their entire deployment coping with their absence and your carefully planned world is thrown upside down. Mac’s first redeployment was a learning experience. We didn’t really have any clue what we were doing and had some speed bumps… View Post »
Movies you shouldn’t watch when your husband’s deployed
I’ve been plowing through my Netflix queue and finally watching some “must-see” movies. A few months back, “Saving Private Ryan” found its way to my mailbox, and I was excited to watch it. They were delayed in Germany because of weather (during the delay, the child sitting next to him made her self literally throw up from screaming and carrying on) and didn’t arrive until about 1:45 am. After… View Post »
I’m looking forward to
Our very first home that we’ll be in alone together for more than 6 months. Cooking in my own kitchen. Painting walls and decorating a whole house. Having my husband home every day. Unpacking boxes for the first time in over a year. Annoying my husband with stupid Internet videos when he’s trying to sleep. He loves it (but not really). Having my husband available to scoop the litter box… View Post »
Military Bowl 2014
Yesterday, Virginia Tech squared off against the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Military Bowl. Ashley, our friend, James, and I stopped by Harris Teeter for tailgating supplies and then headed off to Annapolis around 9 am. My father-in-law recommended tailgating at a church across the road from the stadium, and we met up with several friends who parked in the same lot. Early games always call for mimosas, and we caught up for… View Post »
