Anyone else in the winter doldrums? Anyone else think of The Phantom Tollbooth after using the word doldrums? Nope, just me?
It snowed another foot last night. Normally, I mock Northern Virginia’s fear of snow, but hot shit, I haven’t seen this much snow since we had a major blizzard in Blacksburg my senior year. Will winter ever end? I’m sick of snow, I’m sick of having to wear a heavy jacket every time I go outside, I’m sick of wearing real shoes. This North Dakota born gal cannot figure out why the entire world population doesn’t live in the Caribbean year round. So I’m planning a virtual vacation to warmer places.
What about a repeat trip to the Bahamas, my spring break 2009 destination?
Or the Florida Keys from 2010? It’s only going to be 74 there tomorrow.
Perhaps we should go somewhere more exotic. Like the Maldives.
Or we’ll ignore Egypt’s political unrest and ride camels to see the Pyramids.
And who wouldn’t want to see the stunning scenery of Santorini?
Where would you go to escape this weather?

Bora Bora is my happy place.

I love The Phantom Tollbooth, so yes, being in the doldrums definitely makes me think of it.
And yes, I know exactly what you mean. What’s ridiculous about that statement is that I’m in Louisiana and it still cold and winter-y here. At least point I’d be happy pretty much anywhere I could be in a bathing suit and reading a book!
