As I discussed here, we decided to do our own flowers. Our Fifty Flowers order arrived the Wednesday before the wedding and a customer service rep called within an hour to verify 1) we received the correct flowers and 2) the flowers were in good condition. All was well, and I filled up some containers in our guest bathroom tub. I had a slight freakout that we only had half the red… View Post »
How quickly we forget
Jane at Taingamala (a fellow Alpha Gam!) just posted about going on a business trip after her hubby returned from deployment. It really it home with me because Mac has been gone for the past three weeks. The year that Mac was deployed, I adjusted to being alone. I created routines that helped me deal with sometimes crippling loneliness and depression (these may or may not have included drinking a… View Post »
Gifting our guests

The cookbook has thick, glossy pages with fantastic photos and a great mix of recipes from Blacksburg restaurants and from Virginia Tech’s Dining Services. For those of you unfamiliar with Tech, our Dining Services (the group in charge of all food on campus) consistently ranks in the top three to five nationally. The years we… View Post »
This bridal party was made for walking

Since two of the grandmothers have walkers, we didn’t do a traditional “seating” of them. Mac’s parents headed down the aisle first. Next down the aisle was Mama, escorted by GM Shann. Next was BM JBenz. Followed by BM Antlers. Finally, MOH Sister. The music changed, and my dad and I… View Post »
The calm before the ceremony
After a few portraits, we walked down the brick path to the Gazebo. Mac, Pastor Cook, and El Cunado waited by the side path, while the rest of us headed for the back of the main lawn. We saw a fair number of guests walking in and taking their seats. My wonderful DOC, Vivian, found me and told me that the party bus was en route but stuck in traffic. We decided… View Post »
