After our first dance, we made our way over to the cake table to cut our cake. I’ve mentioned before that we opted for a small cutting cake (lemon flavored) and three different cupcake flavors (lemon, vanilla, and chocolate-covered strawberry). Mac and I agreed to not smash cake: neither of us was too keen on having to clean cake off of our respective clothing. The cake didn’t wholly agree with… View Post »
The last and first dances
After everybody was fed, seconds served, and toasts completed, it was time for the first dances. We again went against tradition with our dance order. My sorority sister, Crystal, married three years ago, and I totally stole this idea from her (because it makes really good sense). The bride and groom dance for a final time with their respective parents before their first dance as a couple. First up, my… View Post »
Making the rounds
While our guests enjoyed dinner, we made our rounds and greeted each guest. We didn’t make it to every guest at their tables, but we did talk to everyone at some time during the evening. Mac’s college friends. My college friends Mac’s cousin, his wife, and their adorable baby girl My parents chatting with my dad’s oldest brother and family. Some Army friends who moved to Augusta. Mac’s grandfather chatting… View Post »
We remember 9/11

During the morning and afternoon back in 8th grade, fellow classmates were constantly called to the office and taken home. I remember sitting in my cultures class, daydreaming about my upcoming birthday as a plane passed overhead. For those of you who don’t know, I lived… View Post »
A history of toasts
Please endure yet another Big Bang Theory reference. As I mentioned, we bucked with tradition by eating dinner before the “formal program,” as my dad called it. Our first toast was from BM El Cunado. He recounted how he’d met me for the first time at Mac’s commissioning. This was, in fact, a lie. He and I met while he was a patient at Walter Reed several weeks after Mac and… View Post »
A nom break
We decided to reorder our wedding reception. Most receptions feature the first dance and parental dances after the formal introduction. The toasts follow these. We mixed things up. I was very conscious of the time slot for our reception venue (4-11 pm), so we started dinner after our introductions (the caterer wasn’t totally set up, so we had 10-15 minutes of down time). I was trying to avoid eating dinner… View Post »
