Life Lately – May 2020

Well, we’ve made it through a solid month of quarantine in addition to the few weeks before that. The Kansas City area is planning to lift the at-home orders soon, so we’ll see how that goes. But not too much has been going here.

  1. Have you ever tried to plan a cross-country move, find a place to live, and get a new job during a pandemic? I can’t say that I recommend it. The Army extended the stop-move through the end of June. We aren’t sure how and if this will affect us because of the course Mac is in. The Army has to move his class in order to bring the next class in. We’ll just wait and see what decisions come out.
  2. Work has been interesting during this time. I’ve been teleworking for six weeks. We are considered essential, so we use a skeleton crew in the office each week. I go in about once a week to take care of things that I can’t do from home. We rolled out a virtual version of our campus visit for prospective students, and we have been slammed. In addition to tons of virtual visits, I’ve been able to make a dent in the various projects I wanted to finish this spring.
  3. Spring has been springing here in Kansas. Most days, the weather has been beautiful. We try to get out of the house and go for at least a short walk each day. I treated myself to fresh bouquet of tulips, and they were a nice pop of color.
  4. No new Oreo flavors this month. I did see both the Tiramisu and the coconut caramel Oreos when I went to the store. I don’t drink coffee and I don’t like coconut, so I passed on those. But I did grab a 3 pound container of M&Ms when we went to Sam’s Club. That should last me a few days through quarantine.

What have y’all been up to?
