Mac finally received his post-career course assignment. Fortunately for him, it’s a job he wanted and involves taking command in a signal unit. Unfortunately for us, this unit is stationed full time in the Middle East. So deployment #2 is upon us. To be honest, I’m experiencing a mix of emotions: fear, sadness, general woe is me. We don’t know all of the details for certain and probably won’t until his official orders are cut. And, for obvious OPSEC reasons, I won’t be posting all of the details.
We’ve decided that I’m not going to stay in Augusta while he’s gone, and I will be moving back in with one set of our parents. We’ll save in the neighborhood of $1500 a month by not paying rent or expenses and will be putting our household goods in storage. Back when Fort Belvoir was an option, I started looking for jobs in that area and saved a few promising ones. So I applied for a few of them. If I were to be offered one (which I don’t find likely), I would live with my in-laws in northern Virginia. Otherwise, I’m packing up and heading back to lively Greensburg, PA.
While knowing a deployment is pending is going to fester in the back of my mind, I’m just not going to focus on it and enjoy the rest of the time we spend here in Georgia.
