My keto grocery shopping list
My post yesterday explained how we started keto, and today’s is all about our keto grocery shopping list. I make up a meal plan and then grocery shop once a week (normally on Saturday evening or Sunday morning). I use this pad, and it is amazing. Buy it right now. Our local stores include Kroger Marketplace, Publix, and Walmart Neighborhood Market. I tend to rotate through them. I don’t eat seafood and am not a fan of the main keto green veggies. We also try to mix up our meal plan, so we don’t buy everything every week. I shop sales and stock up on things that are easy to freeze (meat, butter, certain veggies, frozen bags of berries). Here’s what you can find on our keto grocery shopping list.
Proteins
Ground beef
Steaks
Pre-made burgers (we like Private Selection burgers, Kroger’s store brand)
Ground buffalo
Chicken breasts
Sausage links
Lunch meat (check the carbs on each package as carbs vary widely between brands and flavors)
Bacon
Breakfast sausage (Applegate’s chicken maple is my absolute favorite; Jimmy Dean’s sage bulk sausage is great)
Chorizo (bulk and links)
Pre-made chicken salad
Eggs
Italian meats (pepperoni, salami, prosciutto)
Produce
Spinach
Romaine
Other lettuce blends (spring mix, etc.)
Zucchini
Green beans
Bell peppers
Summer squash
Spaghetti squash
Onions

Low-carb, high-fat salad dressings (ranch, Caesar; I buy the refrigerated ones in our produce cases)

Low-moisture mozzarella (perfect for fathead pizza dough)
Blocks of cheddar, Swiss, Colby jack, and Monterey Jack
Sliced cheese (Swiss, cheddar, provolone, Munster)
Some pre-shredded cheese blends (these tend to be higher in carbs because they are tossed in starch to prevent clumping, so check each one before buying)
Grated Parmesan
String cheese
Fresh mozzarella
Heavy cream
Full-fat sour cream
Butter (Kerrygold makes a great spreadable butter in a tub)
Full-fat cream cheese
