When Mac commissioned, he was a designated branch detail. His lieutenant years where spent in artillery then he transitioned to the signal corps at his promotion to captain. While I wasn’t totally a fan of Fort Bragg and Fayetteville, artillery is pretty freaking cool. Mac’s brigade hosted Molly Pitcher Day a few weeks before our wedding to showcase just what artillery units do. They had stuff like fire exercises and an air assault drop. Now, that Mac is in an infantry unit, I truly have no idea what he does. 1) The signal corps / IT stuff is way beyond my comprehension, and 2) infantry training is a bit more vague than just firing a Howitzer. I guess all of his unit training is making me nostalgic, haha.

There are days when I miss Artillery too! Kyle is branch detail as well, we do enjoy MI though.

So neat!

That’s pretty awesome! Sometimes it doesn’t even feel like John is in the Army, because lately it’s all been regular police stuff. I do enjoy knowing exactly what’s going on though.

Hey infantry is what my hubs does š I always love hearing about his training events and the spouse days his unit puts on (although they’re super boring and just call it ‘spouse day’). Artillery works pretty closely with them and I hafta say it does look like a pretty awesome job!

I feel ya. SoldierMan just did his branch detail transition from infantry (basically they ruck everywhere and shoot things ;)) to intelligence (in a signal unit, SO DIFFERENT). The transition is such a trippy experience, isn’t it?

Tom was infantry too. They mostly ran drills and practiced shooting. I liked to call them glorified camping excursions.
