And forgot to post about it. A few months back, I posted about finding a new direction in my life and career. I applied and was accepted into a Masters program in Student Affairs. While the decision process was going on at the university end, I was still applying for jobs in town. I was offered two jobs, both of which I turned down because they required me to work Saturdays (which would conflict with the Masters classes). I know Mac was disappointed, shall we say, that I passed on two full-time, salaried positions. My godmother was the one who told me to wait for something that I was really interested in doing. Not too long after I accepted my program slot, our program director emailed us some on-campus job opportunities. One of them was for the Greek life graduate advisor. I immediately emailed the department head, and he told me they were extending the application deadline until the end of the week to get more applicants from my program.
So I brushed up my resume, submitted it, and waited. I had a phone interview, an assignment about my goals and plans for Greek life, and a three hour in-person interview. I waited a few more weeks and was finally offered the position. I started last week and have been very happy with the job so far. I love and am very passionate about Greek life and feel quite blessed to be able to work in that field. My new boss is very onboard with my suggestions and ideas, and I am trying to hit the ground running.
