Y’all, I am all about being a hometown tourist. I tried to explain this to my husband and many friends from Northern Virginia who hadn’t explored DC since middle school. If you can explore and do fun things around your town, you might as well. Guide books and your local paper are great resources to find places to explore. Colorado Springs is a hometown tourist paradise.
1. We have Pikes Peak (the mountain that inspired “America, the Beautiful”) and the Cog Railway.
2. Or how about Colorado’s territory capital in Old Colorado City and neighboring Garden of the Gods?
3. Feel like hiking up 2000 feet in just over a mile? Try the Manitou Incline.
4. Check out the Pioneers’ Museum at old City Hall.
5. Explore the town where Nikola Tesla moved to perform his electricity experiments and visit a museum for his work.
6. You can golf at the foot of the Rockies, take high tea, or hike to a waterfall at The Broadmoor.
7. Or tour the modern architecture of the Air Force Academy campus and chapel.
8. Take yourself out to a ballgame at the Sky Sox Stadium.
9. Maybe you can meditate on Tolkien’s quote about wandering and not being lost in the many parks.
10. And, of course, a visit to the US Olympic Training Facility is a must.
Where are the good tourist spots in your hometown?

I love this list! I actually have a guest post coming up in a couple weeks about things to do in Colorado Springs because I just love it there so much. We are visiting for a wedding in July, and I am STOKED to see some of my favorite places once again! 🙂

These all look like fun! I have done a few on my visits. KC (my hometown) has a lot of fun things to do (the bbq, the breweries, art museums, WWI museum, baseball, jazz museum….sooo much).
