Since about 75% of the bloggers I follow are currently pregnant, I keep seeing the semester or pregnancy essentials posts about what they use or need to get through the baby-gestating process. Around these parts, I am not growing a baby, so I decided to spoof their idea for my deployment essentials.
1. Wine. I don’t know how prego wives survive deployment. Wine is a friend in a glass.
2. Cereal. For some reason, I don’t enjoy cooking for one. I have been known to eat cereal for every meal.
3. Frozen meals. See above. These are for work or for when I want something more substantial than Special K.
4. Netflix. How did I function before on-demand entertainment? I’ve watched a shameful amount of telly this deployment.
5. Bookstores. Most of my books are in their packing boxes in the garage (yes, we pulled all of my books out of our storage unit so I could have them). Instead of unpacking them, I buy new ones.
What are your deployment essentials?

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. ALL of these. I don’t know how people under 21 survive deployment either. That case would last me like a week. Good food choices too. Spaghetti and frozen meatballs is about as crazy as I get when it comes to cooking with John away.
Amanda says
Amen to all. I’d say friends are needed too.
Stephanie says
Yes to every one. Cereal and netflix for days!
