Two, just wanna be with you
Shortly after our first anniversary, I managed to convince Virginia Tech that they should give me a diploma. Suckers. Or I’m the sucker because I’m still paying for it. So Mac made the 1000 mile journey back to Virginia. I moved out of my sorority house and continued my job search.
I flew down to Oklahoma to help Mac move to Fort Bragg with his first official unit.
About a week later, I was offered a job in North Carolina which I took. Mac headed off to Ranger School, so my mom helped me move down to Fayetteville. Mac got hurt and wound up back at Bragg sooner than he had planned. Because of this, he was assigned to a different unit that would be deploying a year earlier than the unit he was supposed to go to. Deployment #1 was now less than five months away. We headed up to Blacksburg for my 22nd birthday.
Oh, youth. |
We visited Atlanta to see Bobby Cox’s final series as a manager.
We spent our first holiday together, and our families met at Thanksgiving.
Mac proposed the day before he left for Afghanistan.
The last four months of our second year of dating were spent during deployment.
