Having been through a deployment already, I think it’s a good idea to establish some goals to accomplish while Mac is gone. The last time around, I had a huge project at a new job that I had to create, implement, and then undergo four different audits all before Mac came home for R&R. I spent the majority of my down time working out (I seriously worked out two hours a day).
Well, not currently, but you get the drift. |
So here are my goals for this time:
1. Get a full-time job! Working frequently and making more money definitely keeps you occupied.
2. Work out four times a week. To not be a fatty anymore.
3. Train for the Country Music Half Marathon in April. To not be a fatty and to have a goal to work towards. I’m actually hoping to run at least three half marathons next year. WHAT AM I DOING?!?!
4. Grow my blog through button swaps and link-ups.
5. Get involved with the Junior League, DAR, and Alpha Gam chapters in Northern Virginia.
Did y’all set goals for deployments? What were they?

My goals were stupid. Like actually eat dinner every night, and don’t kill my kids. Going to the gym was a big one, and I did great with that one until he actually got home. And I haven’t been back since.

Those are all great goals! Staying busy definitely helps! I wish you luck with completing all of these. I also had the more exercise on mine which I failed at. I also had one that involves sending at least one care package a month. I was a bit obsessed with putting them together and he sure appreciated it!

When my husband deployed I was 16 weeks pregnant with #4, so my goal then was to have everything ready for baby when he got here, have baby, and keep baby safe and alive when he got home. Darik was just shy of 6 months old when Wes got home and I got them all done AND the other 3 kids survived. I’m already thinking about my goals next time… because there will most likely be a next time (though, luckily not in the near future as he just got home last Feb.)
