So Mac and I finally heard back from the Fort Gordon housing office. The woman at the office we had been working with didn’t send our application along to be processed, so we had to jump through a few more hoops. And bad news: they have no houses available for the next month. We asked to be put on the waiting list in case something opens up (you never know).
Mac has been out-processing from Bragg, and we scheduled our movers to pick up our stuff on June 18 (packing a day or two beforehand). He has to sign in to Fort Gordon on June 14, so we’re going to drive down and find a place to live then drive back to Fayetteville to pack. We are going to stop by a few realtor offices to see if they have any houses open at the moment who wouldn’t mind a six-month lease. But we’ve basically decided to go with an apartment and are going to be contacting the complexes we looked at a few months ago.
Less than a month and counting… and no place to live.

Ahh! Moving is stressful- not having a place to stay once you get there adds a whole another layer of anxiety!

Found your blog via the Wildcard Wednesday hop! I too am a sorority girl. Sigma Kappa! Excited to follow along. I’m sorry you don’t have a place yet. I can’t imagine the stress that comes along with being a military family.

Oh no! What a pain!! Just a word of advise though, we had trouble finding anything for 6 months, so we signed for a year, and we can break the lease at anytime with military orders. It turns out they won’t be sending us anywhere for 3 or 4 months after the course is over anyway.

It is such a pain especially with only being there for 6 months…fingers crossed for you!

I work in property management NEVER mention 6 months! Sign a year lease and use your orders to break it with no termination fees when you need to. The second you mention short term in houses the landlord will say no and in apartments we will add on short term fees to your monthly rent!
