Another day, another diet
I’ve blogged about my weight struggles in the past and have decided to try out something new. I first came across Ideal Protein through Mrs. Sunhat on Weddingbee. I looked into it, couldn’t find a medical office in the area that offered it, and started the HCG diet. Driving home from the Junior League office last week, I noticed that a local chiropractor now offers it. A bit more research found that one of my Army wife friends tried it twice this year (she had to stop both times because she got prego) and lost about 20 pounds the first go around and 10 on the second. She even blogged about it and created some recipes.
It’s another expensive, highly controlled diet. Ideal Protein provides dehydrated protein dishes (drinks, cereals, soups, and dry mixes). You eat three of these a day plus up to eight ounces of protein and four cups of certain vegetables. I think that I will have more long-term success with this than the HCG because it doesn’t have such strict caloric intakes. I also got really bored eating the same chicken, spinach, and tomatoes every freaking day for a month. IP has crepes, puddings, even chip-like crisps. If you don’t cheat, you can lose 3-7 pounds a week. It can also boost your energy levels, and exercise is allowed (HCG advised only light exercise). I’m going to go month by month instead of setting a size or pound goal. With HCG, I lost 10 pounds on the scale and 25 pounds of body fat. Ideally, I would like to reach my lowest weight in college.
A week’s worth of Ideal Protein foods. Yummy. |
I organized them by what I wanted to eat: 3 per day. |
I totes forgot to record my measurements and weight. I’ll just post my stats from the weekly check-ins at the chiro’s office.
Here’s hoping I have more success this time around! Any of y’all tried Ideal Protein?
