A most unoriginal title for a most unoriginal wedding topic. I obsessively read Weddingbee during our engagement. The vast majority of the brides either lost weight or toned their slimmer physiques to look their very best on a very important day. I was no different. I’ve never been skinny. As a kid, I was rather active but slowly put on pounds as my portions increased and activity decreased. My parents… View Post »
What we didn’t do
Every bride eventually crosses off dream designs or expensive vendors whilst wedding planning. I was no different. So what didn’t make the final cut for our wedding? 1. Videography: I’ve read about brides truly regretting not hiring a videographer or even renting video cameras and having guests shoot the important stuff. I have no regrets. Our ceremony was simple and sweet, but our pastor called me Lori at first (I… View Post »
My wedding food has a first name, it’s nom nom nom nom nom.
Ahh, the poor reputation of wedding food. Bland, boring, long food waits, and constantly the same menu options. Makes you wonder why venues haven’t tried to improve their food offerings? Or maybe figure out how to serve dinner without creating long lines? Picking our venue narrowed our catering options to two: The Invisible Chef and Aberdeen Catering. These bad boys are not cheap. 36″ hooks would be the best bet for us, and the cheapest I found them was around $7-8 plus shipping. We needed twenty; our decor budget skyrocketed without buying any real decor. Eventually, I gave up on the shepherd’s hooks and moved on to the other… View Post »
Our wedding inspiration board
Early on in my wedding magazine reading, I noticed that weddings these days need to have a theme or unifying vision. Personally, I think that marriage is a good wedding theme. Working off of my desire to have a Hokie-colored wedding and a June wedding date, I headed over to every bride’s (or wannabe bride’s) resident wedding planner: Pinterest. I jumped on board the Pinterest train last spring and signed… View Post »
My crazy wedding project: pocketfold wedding invitations
Once upon a time, I said I would never make pocketfold envelopes. Screen cap from Weddingbee Please notice that was August of last year, mere days from when I placed our invitation order. A few weeks later, they arrived. The white mailing envelopes were not overly sturdy, and I was a bit concerned that our invites would get damaged in the mailing process. What to do? The obvious was to… View Post »
