In four jam-packed days, we trekked through Kitty Hawk & Kill Devil Hills, Duck & Corolla, Hatteras, and Roanoke Island. Basically, we saw all the sites we wanted to see. Friday, the last full day of our house rental, we decided to take things slow. Mac saw one or two restaurants that he wanted to check out, and I wanted a little more beach time. After sleeping in for once, we… View Post »
Our Outer Banks honeymoon: Roanoke Island
A week or so before the wedding, Groupon had a buy-one-get-one-free deal for “The Lost Colony” tickets. I purchased the deal for two tickets and two back stage passes for the June 14 show. Total cost: $31 (versus $62). Part of our Thursday would be spent on Roanoke Island, so we decided to make it a whole day. The Lost Colony theater is in a complex with the Elizabethan Gardens… View Post »
Our Outer Banks honeymoon: Hatteras
Our Wednesday adventures took us south on NC 12. We headed out early (who sleeps in on vacation?) to beat the crowds. Our first stop was the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Piece of advice: 90% of the touristy sites on the Outer Banks are open from 9 am to 5 pm. If you want to do something very popular, go early. Our Outer Banks honeymoon: Duck and Corolla
Monday night, we planned our next adventure. In an effort to see all of the Outer Banks in a week, we decided to visit an area each day. We looked north to Duck and Corolla for Tuesday and thought going on a horse-watching expedition would be fun. First thing Tuesday, I called Wild Horse Adventure Tours and booked an open-top tour. If you’re interested in doing this, call ahead! We… View Post »
Our Outer Banks honeymoon: Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills
Monday morning, we woke up bright and early to head to the beach. Our beach house was about halfway between Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills and about a block off the beach. We walked down to the public access entrance and were laying on the beach by 8:30 am. Mac wasn’t in a sunbathing mood, so we headed back to the house after about an hour. A local map… View Post »
Our Outer Banks house rental experience
Our honeymoon was amazing. A week of nothing to do, no wedding errands to run, no work to do. Pure relaxation. I’m going to blog about each day separately and recap all the stuff we managed to cram into five days. Today, I’m going to share some information about our Outer Banks house rental. Why we rented a house Because we paid for our wedding, we knew that we wanted… View Post »
