We happened across Sweet Boutique Bakery at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden’s wedding expo. They mentioned they were hosting a free wedding cake tasting event, so I signed up for an invite. We went to the shop the next weekend. The ladies had a larger than expected turnout, so we had to wait a bit. We were given full cake slices to try until a baker was available. We tried:Chocolate-covered… View Post »
Our best man didn’t sign our guestbook
Or, what went wrong. Clearly, every bride and groom fear those inevitable wedding day disasters. Not that Mac and I are pessimists, we’re not, we just wanted to prepared for the worst (crumbling cupcakes, undercooked food, late photographers, etc). Here’s what we encountered: 1. 20 minute wedding craft
This craft involved me locating an extra wedding program, my paper cutter, the bouquet, and the garter. I also had to do some floral modifications. Hence the twenty minute part. Today, I’m forever enshrining some wedding momentos in a shadowbox. I snagged this particular box from AC Moore with a 40% off item coupon. The damask moved from the sides to the top and bottom allowed for bigger and easier… View Post »
Building our ceremony
The arrangement and content of our wedding ceremony was completely up to me. Why? Mac isn’t overly religious, and this was for our religious ceremony. What did we want? My cousin Kristin’s pastor opened with this gem. Seriously. It was hilarious and yet heartwarming. We left our invocation and homily up to our pastor. Readings are another major part of the ceremony. Since the vows and ring exchange might take five… View Post »
Ciabatta Chicken Philly Sandwiches
Considering I lived in Pennsylvania for five years, I’ve only visited Philadelphia once. And I didn’t even try an authentic Philly sandwich while I was there. While I haven’t had the original version, I love a good chicken Philly sandwich. Philly sandwiches find their way onto our weekly meal plan quite a lot. You can make them in under 20 minutes, and they’re a great, easy weeknight dinner. I like… View Post »
