It’s been chilly here, alternating between cold rain and sunshine. Can’t complain about the rain because we’re on the verge of a drought again. But the winter doldrums have got me down, and I’ve taken to planning an anniversary vacation for us. Two of my 25for25 goals are to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and to travel somewhere new. And since Bragg to Gordon has to make the top 5… View Post »
Recent Reads – February 2013
The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels – Ree Drummond I decided to mix up my current diet of Tudor reading by diving into Black Heels to Tractor Wheels, Ree Drummond’s (The Pioneer Woman) autobiographical tale of how she and her husband, Ladd, met and married. Ree started out by posting their love story as a means of filler on her site and eventually finished the story in her… View Post »
25for25: February update
After the sluggish progress of January, February seems to be flying by. Here’s my progress for this month. In honor of my 25th birthday this year (umm, what?), I’ve decided against traditional new year’s resolutions and am hopping on the 25 for 25 bandwagon. I originally found the recipe via Pinterest and made it into cupcakes instead of a round cake. I did use pasteurized egg whites which aren’t supposed to whip up, but I possess a greater will than said egg whites. The cupcakes… View Post »
Actions, not words
Mac and I have only celebrated one Valentine’s Day on the day. We started dating in March and had almost a full year together before one. Senior year, I flew out to Lawton to visit Mac because I didn’t have class on Fridays while he had a long weekend for President’s Day. This involved driving three hours to Charlotte and flying to Dallas in the middle of a genuine blizzard…. View Post »
Man-catching beignets
Funny that as I was typing “man,” I typed “Mac.” Very appropriate. I can’t testify to the success of these man-catching beignets as I already had a captive audience of two men. But they both really liked these. In honor of New Orleans hosting the Super Bowl, I decided to make beignets. Mardi Gras is also this week! I found a delightfully easy recipe from Paula Deen and whipped up a batch… View Post »
