Life Lately – December 2024

Hello, friends! It’s been a long time since I’ve stopped by my blog. 2024 has been quite the year, and I haven’t had a lot of extra energy or brain space for blogging. I do miss this space and would like to restart it.

  1. I’m still dissertating. My plan to finish and defend in the spring became the summer and then became the fall. Things are moving along, but I’m not done yet. The plan to finish in the fall is looking real spring-ish at this point.
  2. We’re into our third year in the DC area, so we’re trying to make the most of our time here. We’ve gone to lots of sporting events, museums, and historical sites. Mac was recognized at one of the Capitals games, and we had the honor of meeting Rod Langway. And we’ve been able to snag free tickets to some of the DC home games through VetTix.
  3. Our summer was busy with several trips. We followed the Braves on an East Coast road trip, so we spent a few days in Boston then caught games in DC and Baltimore. I was finally able to walk the Freedom Trail, and we squeezed in a bunch of the Boston sites. My brother-in-law also took battalion command at Fort Liberty. We introduced his wife and kids to our favorite Fayetteville restaurant, Luigi’s. My college friends took another wine trip to Vermont.
  4. We also took my post-dissertation vacation… before finishing the dissertation part (gotta love booking travels months in advance). Over my birthday, we traveled to Iceland and spent the week road-tripping around the country. I highly recommend Iceland, and we both enjoyed the trip.
  5. The kitties have been good. Purrburger has had some ups and downs with her health, but she’s currently rumbling away. Bagel Bites is still his happy, wacky self.

I hope y’all have had a good year!
