I meant to post this yesterday when I got home but fell into a deep sleep just shy of a coma. Like I slept for almost 18 hours straight. And I’ve been dragging all day today.
Or rather, a lava-hot sunburn. Yep, mere hours after posting about my penchant for sunburns, I left my trusty SPF 30 sport at home next to my registration banner. I noticed this about 3 hours after arriving at Relay and was already burning when I went home to get them.
Relay For Life was a general success. Thanks to those of y’all who donated to my page. We had some issues with weather including waking up to a tornado watch Friday morning, but it cleared up to beautiful weather for our actual event. Only a few casualties: mostly a few tailgating tents, ours included.
I brought my camera in hopes of taking lots of photos, but, as the Logistics chair of the event, I was slightly pre-occupied with making sure everything and everyone were running smoothly. I don’t think I sat down for more than 10 minutes until 1 am. We raised close to $15,000 during our Relay event and are almost to $75,000 total.
A Luminaria, donated in honor or in memory of a cancer Survivor. |
I encourage everyone to check out the Relay For Life event in your area. You can find it by visiting www.relayforlife.org. This is a fundraiser I’m very passionate about, and I hope that y’all can be inspired to help out.

Way to go Lisa! I am so proud that you have kept Relay for Life going in your life. I just recently applied for a Fellowship with the National Cancer Institute. If I get then then there is a chance I will be working on developing drugs to help cure cancer and support this cause in another way.
