Happy October, friends! I’m sad that the best month of the year is over, but I’m looking forward to more fall-like weather.
- I celebrated my 32nd birthday two weeks ago. We went out to dinner and kept the evening low-key because of the whole pandemic thing and the fact that we’re old and boring. But if any of y’all want to send me a gift, a million dollars would be greatly appreciated. Make the check out to CASH.
- We finally {mostly} finished our powder room refresh. When we moved in, neither of us cared for the paint, flooring, or bathroom fixtures. The bathroom was also just grimy and gross. So we had it repainted and updated the flooring when we did those projects for the rest of the house. This weekend, we installed the new vanity and toilet and hung some art. I need to find one toilet connection, and then that project is done and dusted.
- Virtual fall travel season is in full swing. I honestly miss travel. It’s fun to get out of the office, grab a free lunch, and meet new people (and old people like your travel friends). The travel rewards perks also aren’t terrible. But we’re making lemonade out of lemons, and I’ve had some good conversations with perspective students. The weirdness of this year has also allowed me to flex my creative muscles a bit in the world of graduate admissions.
- In very important news, the Atlanta Braves won a playoff series for the first time in 19 years. I’m going to jinx them by sharing this, but I’m so excited that they didn’t lose their first playoff series this season. If you’re new around here, you should know that I love baseball and am a Braves fanatic. I try to catch games on TV and in person wherever we live. Last year, I able to catch a Braves game in Kansas City.
What’s new with y’all?

All this virtual stuff is not my favorite. I know it has its place, but I miss seeing people face to face. We just got a note about virtual parent teacher conferences.

I agree. I won’t be sad when we don’t have to do everything virtually in the future!
