Restaurants in Leavenworth

Our year in Leavenworth has flown by. We’ve tried to support local businesses while we’ve been here, and we’ve been eating our way around town. Here are some of our go-to restaurants in Leavenworth.

Restaurants in Leavenworth

Breakfast

The Depot

Yummy food, quick service, and free donut muffins at every meal. You’ll find The Depot on Shawnee in an old railroad depot. The building oozes small town charm, and the menu can’t be beat. Try the huevos rancheros. They are amazing.

Meriwether’s

Come for the baked goods, and stay for the baked goods. Meriwether’s has amazing pastries and donuts. Most of them are almost the size of your face, and the donuts have toppings like Oreos and cereal. Their regular food menu of breakfast and light lunch is also delicious.

10th Street Diner

10th Street recently opened up at the corner of 10th and Pennsylvania (where TenPenny used to be). They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast menu is solid and reasonably priced. Try a skillet.

Lunch & Dinner

Baan Thai

I honestly can’t say that I’ve eaten a ton of Thai food in my life. But Baan Thai delivers. Their food is tasty, and they have lots of seating. It’s a great choice for a fun date night or for takeout.

First City Cheese Market

Come for the stocked cases of tasty cheese, and stay for the delicious selection of freshly-made grilled cheese sandwiches. Or come for the grilled cheese and spend way too much money on regular cheese. Either way, you’ll get a grate meal (lol, I’ll stop).

Pullman Place Restaurant

You’ll find the Pullman Place Restaurant in downtown. It’s a cozy family-run spot with a classic diner menu. I won’t turn down a grilled cheese.

Abe’s Place

Abe’s Place offers a large menu of pizza and baked sandwiches. Honestly, they’re the most reliable pizza place in Leavenworth. Be sure to try the Chi Pie, a Chicago style deep-dish pizza. It’s loaded with a whopping three pounds of cheese.

All Slabbed Up

Kansas City is known for its barbecue and the burnt ends. All Slabbed Up is Leavenworth’s local barbecue joint. The food is solid, but the service isn’t. Get there early because they tend to run out of meat.

Ichiban’s

Okay, this one’s technically in Lansing. Ichiban’s offers a selection of hibachi and sushi. You can eat in or take out. Be sure to order the cream cheese wontons. They’re similar to crab rangoons but without the crab.

Sweet Treats

Sis’s Sweets

Back in March, Mac and three of his classmates were promoted at the same time, so we hosted a promotion party. One of the other wives grabbed a few dozen of Sis’s Sweets cookies. They are amazing. They’re overstuffed with chips and bits and are chewy and soft.
