Today is a good day. We’re sandwiched in between International Cat Day and Smores Day. If you need me, I’ll be eating smores while hanging out with my cats. So nothing out of the ordinary here.
- We’re already approaching the end of summer. Is it just me, or does it seem like schools are starting earlier and earlier every year? I saw people’s kids heading back on the 1st. I feel like we started school the last week of August or in September. Our students are starting move-in this weekend, so campus will be a bit busier and noisier in the next few days and weeks.
- We crossed another weekend trip of our list and visited Saint Louis. Since we’re most likely going to be here for a year, I really wanted to make sure we take the trips we talk about taking. I’ll do a full recap soon, but we tried some new pizza, caught a Cardinals game, and explored the area.
- Another month, another seasonal Oreo flavor. Mint chocolate chip is my absolute favorite flavor at Baskin Robbins, so I was super stoked to find these bad boys. They’re similar to Oreo’s current mint flavors (but not the same). So mint cousins? Either way, they’re tasty and worth trying. Next up are the maple cream Oreos coming out for fall or the smore Lofthouse-style cookies at Target.
- Mac officially started CGSC this week. He had about two months off and is ready to get back in a routine. I’m glad he was able to enjoy his summer and chill out after a his last job. We’ve heard rumors that HRC (the Army’s HR branch) is going to try and release available jobs earlier than normal. And we’ve also heard that their timeline has already been pushed back. So we’ll wait and see when the jobs list comes out.
- I’ve realized that the older I get, the more time I spend looking at the weather. One of my weekly things to do at work is to peruse the 90-day forecast (I lead a thrilling life). We spent the past two summers in Georgia where 90 degree weather lasts until October. Our 90-day forecast in Kansas has 30-degree days in it. I’m still trying to wrap my head around that. I guess I need to dig out our bins of winter clothes.
Are y’all ready for summer to end? Or are you holding on to it for as long as you can?
