Is it just me, or did March feel like it lasted 17 years? I was expecting to have a schedule full of travel to out-of-town events, but that clearly didn’t happen. Here’s what’s been going on in our neck of the woods.
- Mac is officially a major! He was promoted on March 1, and we had a promotion ceremony on March 6. Since he and a few other classmates promoted on the same day, we threw a party. It was nice to have his small group get together. And it was the last big social event for who knows how long.
- In more big news, we are moving to El Paso! A few weekends ago, we took a house-hunting trip to Texas. We decided not to cancel the trip because we weren’t sure when we would have another chance to visit before we move this summer. We ate tasty Mexican food and Whataburger and caught up with friends. Our housing situation is still undecided. Hopefully, we’ll figure that out soon.
- We’ve been living that self-isolation life since we got back from Texas. Leavenworth County issued a stay-at-home directive, so we’ve been staying home. The Army is all out-of-whack, and the course that Mac is in has been overhauled for distance learning. The classes he was planning to take were cancelled, so he’s been trying to figure that out. I’ve been working from home. We’ve had to convert all of our upcoming events to virtual events, so that’s been an interesting challenge.
- Let’s have some real talk. Obviously, the self-isolation and quarantine procedures are necessary and very important. But I’d be lying if I said that this was easy. I’m a pretty extroverted person, and having to deal with suddenly staying home all of the time has been a struggle. I know there’s a whole debate about whether or not we should continue with “business as usual” in the blogging world. Blogging is an outlet for me and has helped me build a community of friends. So I plan to continue posting. Things may change, but only time will tell.
What have y’all been doing? How are you dealing with quarantine?

Life definitely feels upside down right now!! I’m hoping all this social distancing works and that we’re able to get out and about by the time summer rolls around. School just got switched to remote learning for the rest of the year. That’s definitely not the same as a fun school day so we were all bummed. My husband is in the process of switching everything he does to online. It’s tricky! Good luck with planning out your move and adjusting to working from home. Our poor cats are in a funk with so many people interrupting their day long naps.

Thanks! It has been an interesting shift to completely virtual everything. And I agree about the cats. They’re slowly adjusting to having to wait for lunch every day, lol.

Congrats to Mac! When do you all move to Texas? Love #4. I’m an introvert and having a hard time with this! Working on blog posts and reading others has been a positive for me during this time!

Thanks! The current timeline is June, but we shall see… I’m glad that blogging has created communities for us to support each other.

Thanks! We are. Things are a bit up in the air at the moment, but I’m ready for us to get settled there.
