We left Paris and took the train up to Amsterdam, passing through Belgium. It was another peaceful and nap-filled ride. Once we arrived, we dropped our stuff at the hotel then headed back to the heart of Amsterdam for an evening canal tour. I think a canal tour is a must for any visitor to Amsterdam. Canals are an integral part of the city, and you can see so much from them. Amsterdam is an old city, and many of the buildings on the canal date from the 15th to 17th centuries. From the tour, we walked a few blocks to an authentic Dutch restaurant for an authentic Dutch meal. Fun fact: many Dutch restaurants serve fries with every meal like how we would see bread on a restaurant table. We were really confused about why a Dutch meal came with French fries, but that’s normal. It was a fun evening and kicked off the last two days of the trip on a good note.
