After Cite Internationale, we headed out on a walking tour of Paris. We started in the arrondissement near Notre Dame, hopped on the Paris metro to check out the Palais Garnier (the opera house featured in The Phantom of the Opera), and ended with a rage-filled group protesting our tour guide. We had tickets for the Eiffel Tower at a particular time, and Mario decided that we had to see a department store (because we don’t have those in the US?) and a perfume factory that not a single person in our group were interested in seeing. Other good highlights included Shakespeare and Company, a very famous English bookstore, buildings from the Sorbonne and University of Paris, ruins from a Roman bath, and the statue of St. Michael the Archangel.
