A much-needed long weekend
Considering fall semester just started, I’m already in need of a break. First, we had the hail storm. Activity in my office ramped up with move-in two weeks later and hasn’t stopped. Then we went to Nashville for my brother-in-law’s wedding. This jaunt to Nashville and our upcoming trip to Virginia are our vacations for the year, so you think they would be relaxing. But Mac and I are not the quite, relaxing vacation types. We’re more the “cram everything you want to see and do in as short as time as possible then go home exhausted and in need of an actual break” kind of people.
We had grand plans to knock out a bunch of random house projects. We headed to Lowe’s Friday morning and picked up our various supplies. Apparently, we left our motivation at Lowe’s because we did pretty much nothing on our list this weekend, and it was glorious.
- The new cars precipitated us moving our trash / recycling cans outside. One nasty gram from our very worthless HOA later, we reorganized our garage (like trash cans along our house do more to diminish curb appeal than the landscaping company we pay for that does nothing. See: my neighbors’ house where the bushes are so overgrown you can’t find the front door).
- We made another trip to Goodwill with another full trunk. I haven’t been keeping exact track, but we are definitely at or above my goal to purge 365 things from our house.
- The Hokies won! Also, college football is back. This was a main reason why our to-do list wasn’t finished.
- We went to Target because I needed a (ONE) bottle of contact solution. We spent $100. I’m not kidding. We bought so much Halloween candy that our cashier asked us if we were having a party. We are not.
- I finally knocked out some more freezer meals that I’ve been putting off. An hour and a half later, we have lasagna rolls, pepperoni penne, and manicotti to tide us (Mac) over during the first part of fall semester.
What did y’all do this weekend?
