Post-Valentine’s Day thoughts

I took an epic nap when I got home from class on Saturday which resulted in 1) major insomnia and 2) catching up on blog reading. Most bloggers posted something about Valentine’s Day, so I clicked through to see what everyone did.

Valentine’s Day is normally over a four-day weekend in Army land because of President’s Day. V Day is the “holiday” that Mac and I have spent the most together because of said four days (and I ain’t complaining). This year, we opted for a nice brunch at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort with delicious food and mimosas heavy on the champs. I spent 20 Valentine’s Days single, and I was never once bothered by it. In high school, my friends and I swapped cards and little gifts. In college, I used Singles’ Awareness Day as an excuse to party (let’s be honest, I used any and everything as an excuse to party). Valentine’s Day as a married woman has been rather uneventful. During our Bragg days, work and the crowds had us celebrate on other days. Mac gets me flowers, and I stock up on themed treats for him. Our fanciest V Day was last year when we went to The Melting Pot (if only because I wanted to go there), but we tend to keep things low key. I think being together is more than doing something fancy (but I don’t mind the fancy when champagne is involved).

Do y’all make a big deal about Valentine’s Day?
