Blogging is a fun but time-consuming hobby. Not only do we spend time writing posts, taking and editing photos, and running sites, we also take time to interact with other bloggers. I love reading your blogs and making friends in this little world of ours. I’ve mastered a good way for me to balance the time demands of blogging, so I’m sharing those with you today.
Write multiple posts at once.
I tend to have writing feasts and famines. When I think of a bunch of good post ideas, I write them down. If I’m at home, I’ll start writing the actual posts and save them for later. This gives me a chance to marinate on the topic or to prevent myself from forgetting what I wanted to share.
Use Bloglovin.
When Google announced that Reader was going away a few years ago, I panicked. I had no idea that reader sites like Bloglovin existed, but I jumped in and learned how to use it. I like the main feed page, but I tend to use the side bar where each blog I follow is listed. I click on that blog and open each unread post in a new tab (this helps me to keep track of what I read without having to dive through pages of that blog).
I also am not afraid to “Mark as Read” on sponsored posts or link-ups that I didn’t participate it. For some reason, several of your blogs no longer show up on my side bar, so reading or marking posts helps me find the blogs that I read on the reg. On a good day when I’m caught up, I still have around 300 unread blog posts that I try to wade through. Normally, it’s around 600.
Edit and upload photos in bulk.
Honestly, I don’t edit too many photos. The lighting in my house is challenging when photographing food, so I’ll lighten things up if a food photo is too dark. I also upload photos in large batches. It’s easier for me to add photos to multiple posts at one time than to remember to update posts separately.
How do y’all stay on top of blogging?

I am always writing and saving posts, however most of mine are spur of the moment.

I try to write down post ideas and save them for later. That helps. I also have Bloglovin.

I wrote a lot but half never gets posted for one reason or another. Most posts that go up were written and then scheduled a day or two in advance unless we are going away. I’m fine with my space being empty if there is nothing I want to write about. I never want to feel like I have to post. I don’t like that pressure so I don’t give into it.

I definitely tend to write several posts at once when the mood strikes! It’s MUCH easier to be consistent that way… not that I have been consistent in months, haha

Amen on the fact that blogging is time consuming! I wish I had extra hours in the day to just read and comment on blogs.

Love this!! I am always so terrible at writing posts in bulk, even though I know that it can be such a lifesaver, especially when you’re just at a loss for what to write in the morning! I definitely need to get into the habit of doing this. And I will also admit, that since I had a baby I’ve been really bad at commenting on blogs even though I do try and read them regularly. I’ve actually set up a reminder on my phone in the middle of the day to pause and check instagram/twitter/read a few blogs. Not only is it good for blogging, but it is also a nice break in the middle of the day!

I try to write posts in bulk as well. Even as a photographer, I don’t really edit my photos either. That takes up a lot of time that this gal does not have. You are making me feel better that I am not alone in being behind with reading blogs. I am always about a month behind on reading. I also have a memo on my phone for post ideas and a little calendar to write them in when I would like to get them out.
