One of my 30 by 30 goals is to complete a race each year. I originally planned to do a few more Rock’n’Roll series half-marathons, but our move and my new job threw those plans out the window. There aren’t a lot of 5Ks here in the Springs beyond running clubs. I happened to check my Living Social email and saw a listing for a Scavenger Dash race. It’s a scavenger hunt where you get clues and solve them as quickly as possible. I signed Mac and me up for yesterday’s race. Two other ladies from my program also competed with us.
The race started at a bar downtown, and we then ran to a park to get our list of 12 clues (11 of which have to be completed). We ran and walked around the downtown area solving each clue. We did pretty well, until the very last clue. It required you to find 3 of 6 items, and we could not find a third item. After about 40 minutes, we gave up and grabbed something similar. In all, we finished in just over two hours, didn’t fight, and are still married. I consider that a success. We weren’t trying to win, but the race was a lot of fun. If Scavenger Dash comes to your city, you should definitely check it out!
Have you tried a scavenger hunt race?
