I’ll bash his head in
Or, what we did this weekend.
So Mac’s regiment had a ball on Thursday night. It was at the Antlers Hilton downtown and was quite a nice event. We wound up getting a hotel room because Mac had to be there several hours early to oversee the A/V set-up, he needed a place to change, and we had to stay late to pick up his computer (used for a slideshow). The company’s honorary sergeant major, a Vietnam vet, was the guest speaker, and the food was decent. But this was the worst-behaved ball I have ever been to. The table in front of us was entirely drunk, and they spent the whole sergeant major’s speech about his time in Vietnam passing around a flask and talking. It was beyond ridiculous and disrespectful. Also very ironic that these soldiers were from our speaker’s same company.
Friday, we went to see The Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was a solid chapter in the Avengers series, and I liked it. But it was no Furious 7. We did nothing the rest of the day. Saturday was Fort Carson Appreciation Day for the Sky Sox, so we picked up our free tickets and headed over. We again managed to sit behind some drunk, obnoxious soldiers. We had a family behind us, and after one particular show of stupidity (the guy was pulling up his shirt to try and win a free shirt), the dad told his daughter that if she brought home a guy like that, he would “bash his head in.” Glad to see parenting in action. The night turned a bit windy and chilly, so we headed home about two hours in. Sunday, we went to look at furniture for the basement then just lazed around the house after church. Mac made a dent in his latest video game, and I continued reading a new biography. It was nice to have a fairly low-key weekend in the midst of the craziness of Mac’s job.
What did y’all do this weekend?
