We’re baking our candy cookies today! My family loves M&Ms. LOVES them. We jokingly refer to M&Ms as Vitamin M. So it was only natural that I found this recipe for M&M Oreo cookies. These M&M Oreo cookies are practically perfect: not too sweet with a hint of mint, crunchy from the Oreos and M&Ms, and overall delicious.
The dough is pretty similar to a standard chocolate chip cookie dough. One important difference is that you use oil in addition to butter. The oil keeps the cookie from being too soft and from spreading too much. You don’t want super soft dough because you’re adding in Oreo cookie crumbs. And be sure to smash the Oreos into small pieces to make sure you get Oreo in every bite. Form the dough into about one inch balls and then press two or so M&Ms into the top of each cookie. If your Oreo chunks are too big, your M&Ms won’t stick to the dough.
The M&M Oreo cookies bake up in under 10 minutes. If you want a really soft cookie, bake them for about 7 minutes. They will firm up a bit after they’ve cooled but will still have a gooey center. I have to warn you that these cookies may not last very long.
