The issue with a one-year assignment is the very quick need to move again. Mac turned in his job wish list back in June, and we’re still waiting to hear news about his next duty station. HRC (the Army’s HR branch) functions differently than the rest of the Army. Mac’s particular HRC has experienced a lot of turnover in the past year, so different captains have been handling their assignment lists. In addition, everyone at HRC decided to take leave over the past two months.
Based on his list, there’s a high likelihood that we’ll go back to Fort Bragg. I’m fine with going back to Bragg because we will not be living in Fayetteville. To be honest, I would prefer to live somewhere I haven’t lived before, but the Army will provide us with plenty of chances to move again. Hopefully, we’ll find out soon where we’re moving next, and then we can start planning for another move!

John wants to go back to Missouri when we leave here to teach CCC. I’d also prefer somewhere we haven’t been, but like you said, we’ll have a few more chances after that to go somewhere else. On the bright side, I’ll already know everything about the area. Can’t wait to hear where you guys are headed!

I hate the waiting game! My hubby just started three year orders here in PA, but he’s already putting a short list together of where he’d like to go next.

I’m crossing my fingers that orders will come your way asap!

Just left Bragg last year and we lived about 45 mins north and enjoyed the area – I think if we could do it again we would try another neighborhood, but after all that we’d heard about the area before moving we actually really enjoyed our time there. It also helped that road trips to some of our favorite places are super convenient from there (beach, charleston, DC)!

I hope you find out where you are going soon, the waiting is always the worst part.
