So I have really long hair. My hair is soft and fine. To all of you curly haired gals who are jealous of these long, straight locks, don’t be. My hair has zero volume and doesn’t hold any style. I have two options: blow dry it straight or let it air dry straight.
I also normally go two years between hair cuts. I might (emphasis on the might) get a trim once a year. Yes, I know this is bad, but I just don’t care. My hair also grows fairly quickly. No, I don’t have any magical secrets. My older sister’s hair doesn’t grow like mine. If I had magical secrets, I would sell them and be a millionaire by now.
Because of this, I choose to grow my hair out and donate it. My charity of choice is Locks for Love. I understand that they don’t use all of the hair they receive and do sell what they can’t use to companies to raise money to finance their wigs (which cost around $1000). They are also pretty restrictive on what kind of hair can be donated. I don’t color my hair, and I donate 12-14 inches at a time. Pantene also started a program called Beautiful Lengths after I did my first donation in 2006. They take color-treated hair and shorter lengths. I will be cutting my hair off in the next few weeks for another donation.
Have y’all ever donated your hair?

I have stick straight hair with no volume either but I wouldn’t change it for anything. I love it. I have donated my hair before and it was an awesome experience.

I donate my hair too. I have done it a few times now, but it takes me a couple years to get it to a length that I can donate.
