Ah, Valentine’s Day. The one day a year when men are socially obligated to be romantic. Don’t mind me, I’m just bitterly cynical. In the five years we’ve been together, Mac and I have only gone out for one Valentine’s Day. It was our first, and we’d been dating 11 months. It also involved four separate three-plus hour car rides, a lost flight reservation, a delayed plane, a snowstorm in Dallas, a three hour flight, and a second cancelled flight. Two (including this one) have been during a deployment, and the other two were sidelined due to our work schedules and being in Fayetteville (where going out on a holiday was never a good idea).

Valentine’s Day isn’t a big deal to me (who needs candy? As I stuff my face with Thin Mints), but seeing all the stuff about cute date ideas and dinner suggestions just reminds me that Mac’s not around. But this is the end of my complaining. The hubby of one of my best Army wife friends (BAWF?) has spent three of the past four February 14ths deployed.
Any of y’all have a hot date for the evening?

We don’t celebrate it at all..just a made up holiday. 🙂

I say eat as many Thin Mints as you want today! You deserve it for having a husband who’s deployed!

Happy Valentines! We’ve only spent two out of our four V-day’s together, still have never had a “real” date V-day because of the baby! Btw, your email is showing up a no-reply blogger so I can’t write you back!
