Apparently, taking about modesty is a rather controversial topic on the Interwebs. Having seen several posts about it, I decided to share my own thoughts. My personal method of dressing is on the modest side.
This is largely due to my figure: low cut or too tight tops on big boobs look really slutty. And large thighs don’t mix well with short or tight bottoms. Also, I just don’t like showing that much skin. I know a lot of other women who subscribe to a “modest is hottest” sense of style.

My more conservative style is not totally driven by my religious beliefs. I don’t dress modestly to prevent men from sinning. They can control themselves. I wear pants in addition to skirts and dresses. I wear shorts, but I’ll just choose a longer hemline. I wear low cut shirts; I normally put a camisole underneath. For me, comfort (not only how comfy the clothes are, but how comfortable I feel wearing them) is just as important as fashion. And I tend to feel more comfortable a bit more covered up.
What style do you prefer?

I wouldn’t consider it a modest style, just dressing to fit your body type, which more people need to take into account! For example, our wedding dresses are totally different but due to your body shape you have cleavage in a ‘modest’ dress and I didn’t have a single bit.

Dude I hear you on this one. I don’t think that I’m “modest” by any means, and it’s definitely not prompted by religion, but I do generally like to wear things that keep my “girls” reigned in. I don’t generally wear tube tops or anything with a low-cut V – it just starts to look awkward. I almost always wear a cami underneath my shirts, because I like to just have a little more polished, put-together look…. just because I have cleavage doesn’t mean it needs to be on display all the time! haha

I’m totally with you on this. Modest is hottest and I try to dress that way. Like you said, I put camis on under lower cut shirts and try to find longer hemmed sorts. Plus, I’m almost 30 and it’s the age appropriate thing to do.

I dress very modestly primarily because of my job. As a middle school teacher, I want my students to be focused on ENGLISH, not on their teacher’s tight pants or cleavage. The idea of 13 year old boys seeing me as anything but a mama type gives me the creeps.

I am definitely about the stylish comfort and not feeling like I have to tug at my clothes all the time to be covered.
