Opening Day
Today is the favorite day of the year for baseball fans. The grass is green. The bats are stained and tarred. The uniforms are crisp and clean. Six months, 30 teams, 182 games. Every team in undefeated. Every team can go the distance and see the Promised Land in October.
For the first time in my memory, Chipper Jones won’t be wearing number 10 and protecting third base. It’s a bittersweet day for the Braves Nation.
Sadly, I won’t be in a standing room only crowd at Turner Field but working in Raleigh. That means I won’t even be watching the game, and I’m trying to devise a way to watch it (maybe turn one of the lobby TVs at our Raleigh office to the game).
