I stumbled across this image last night on the Pinterest. The Social Security Administration releases the names of babies born in every year, and a website put the graphics together in a gif. Clearly, this Lisa was born in the wrong decade. We pretty much crushed the 60s. Which is surprising because the rare smattering of Lisas I’ve encountered were not born in the 60s. Then the name Lisa took a long fall off a tall cliff and was replaced by 90% of my friends’ names: Ashley, Jessica, Jennifer, Amanda, and Emily. It is funny to see how names definitely follow trends.

Any one else see their names on here? What do you think of trendy names?

Oh my gosh, that was so interesting to see!
My parents were deciding between Brittany and Courtney for my name. I saw Brittany pop up on the chart but no Courtney’s š
And I admit that I’m kind of glad I didn’t see Mia’s name pop up for 2012, ha ha!

Yup, I am an Ashley. It didn’t flash on to my state until the year after I was born.
This is really neat. Thanks for sharing!

My name is definitely now where on here! But lately people seems to be recognizing it a lot more lately. I’m sure a lot of that is due to Girls, since there’s a Shoshanah (different spelling though) on that show.
