So I mentioned a few weeks back that Mac and I will be moving to Augusta this summer. After that, we really don’t have a set destination. But we have created a short list of places we would like to go if Mac could get a job there.
Augusta

Pros: only moving once this year, reasonably close to our friends and family, THE SOUTH
Cons: apparently, Augusta around The Masters is cah-razy. My godfather, former number 2 in the Georgia penal system, tells me that Augusta has one of the most dangerous ZIP codes in the state. Charming.
Savannah

Pros: Savannah is a really nice city, lots of restaurants and nightlife, home of Paula Deen’s restaurant
Cons: also has dangerous areas, Fort Stewart is technically in Hinesville, a not-so-nice town
Germany

Pros: Umm, living in Europe. Weekend jaunts to different countries and cities. New cultures, new food, being able to make use of the five non-English languages I can speak. Proximity to London. Might as well live overseas before we have kids.
Cons: Europe is, how do we say, not close to our friends and family. While most of them would visit, it would be even less frequent than now. Also the dollar-Euro exchange rate is nicht so gut, so it would be a tad pricey.
Colorado
Source |
Pros: where I consider my home, going to Broncos games, epic roadtrips to parks and mountains and beautiful scenery, closer than Germany
Cons: still far away, not convenient for Tech home games, very dry air, everything I’m allergic to (seriously, every single thing) is only found out west and in Colorado
Seattle
Source |
Pros: close to Hawaii, Alaska, and Vegas (the three states I have yet to visit), lots of outdoorsy things to do, college football starts at 9 am local time
Cons: I like neither Starbucks nor rain, a general lack of summer, in between Colorado and Germany in distance
If you could move anywhere, where would you go?

Haha believe me you aren’t missing much in Vegas (I may be biased because I am from there). It gets really old after a while. As far as moving anywhere we want to be honest we are really really loving it in Texas right now. I did not think I could gravitate so much to El Paso but it’s amazing not as dangerous as everyone thinks it is.

My dad’s family was from Augusta and it definitely gets a little wild during Masters week, but outside of that, I think it’s a nice city. It’s not like most Army towns where the town was built around the post (aka ghetto), but this is an actual CITY with an Army post there too. So that’s nice. And I think it might have a one of the higher crime rates in the state because GA doesn’t have a plethora of big cities, which is where most high crime rates reside, ya know? Mo’ people, mo’ problems, right? ๐
If we could go anywhere… we’d choose Europe in a heartbeat. (And we have kids!) We’d never be able to afford to live there outside of the Army. And wow, you know five languages?! That is awesome!! I hope y’all get stationed somewhere you really enjoy!

Jen: My dad is actually from El Paso, but we really haven’t thought about Texas too much. No real reason why.
Jenn: It looks really nice. We’re going to visit next weekend. Fingers crossed! And two of the five languages (Latin and Ancient Greek) aren’t overly useful, haha.
Angela: Thanks for stopping by!

Go to Europe!!!! ๐ Well, just kidding…. follow your heart. I’m just dreaming of moving to Europe for a few years once I’m done school. I would love to live new adventures. But I’m sure as an army wife, your life is full of adventure. All those places look beautiful to me.
Good luck with your decision!
